FREE* Golden Hour and Sunset Photography on Hilbre Island

Discover the magic of Hilbre Island, my personal happy place and the most popular route I offer on the Wirral. This walk is a must for photographers looking to capture stunning seascapes, golden hour light, and unforgettable sunsets in a truly unique setting.

Starting at the end of West Kirby Promenade near the sailing school, we’ll journey across the sands to Little Eye, where we’ll pause to take in the views and grab some initial shots. From there, we’ll cross the rocky shore to Middle Eye, positioning ourselves for golden hour photography as Hilbre Island glows in the evening light.

As the sun dips lower, we’ll make our way to the historic Lifeboat Station on Hilbre Island, the perfect spot to watch and photograph the sun disappearing into the horizon. The return journey takes us along the landward side of the island, skirting the water channels and ending back at our starting point in West Kirby.

This 7.2 km (4.5 mile) walk combines breathtaking scenery, unique wildlife, and unparalleled opportunities for creative photography. It’s my most popular route, so booking early is essential to secure your place.
