Liverpool at Night – Waterfront Long Exposure Walk
See Liverpool’s iconic waterfront in a whole new light. This evening photowalk takes us through the Albert Dock and along the riverfront as the city comes alive after dark. The historic docks and modern architecture create the perfect backdrop for exploring long exposure techniques – from smooth reflections on the water to light trails and illuminated landmarks.
We’ll slow the pace, set up our tripods and experiment with capturing the unique atmosphere of Liverpool at night – the mix of neon, reflections and glowing city lights makes this one of the most rewarding times to shoot. Whether you’re new to night photography or looking to refine your technique, this walk is a relaxed and friendly way to practise with guidance along the way.
Practical notes
-
A tripod is strongly recommended to get the most out of this walk.
-
Dress warmly – it can feel colder by the water in the evening.
-
We’ll mostly be on paved, accessible routes, but be mindful of uneven cobbles around the dock.
-
As with all my free walks, this route is mixed ability and open to everyone. We’ll need at least three bookings to go ahead – so why not bring a friend and discover Liverpool after dark?
*Free Neon Light Photography Workshops are offered for no upfront fee, all I ask is that participants consider giving whatever they feel the workshop was worth to them at the end of the route. I’ll never pressure you to tip; I believe that, if money is given, it should be voluntary and in direct proportion to the quality of the workshop and the budget of those attending. It’s a kind of satisfaction guarantee, if you don’t enjoy the workshop, just walk away, no questions asked. As this is a public artwork display I cannot guarantee all artworks will be available each night. If, as in previous years, bad weather causes the event to be cancelled for a night the walk will not take place and all attendees will be informed by email/text/sms.
