Flying Scotsman at Ribblehead Viaduct
Join me next summer for my star attraction photography workshop of 2026 – capturing the world-famous Flying Scotsman steam locomotive as it powers across the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct in the Yorkshire Dales. This spectacular location is one of Britain’s most celebrated railway landmarks, with sweeping views of the viaduct’s towering arches set against dramatic moorland landscapes.
Ribblehead holds a special place in my heart, as it’s the setting for one of my favourite ever photographs taken back in 2021. I’m really looking forward to returning and passing on the knowledge and skills that helped me capture that image, guiding you to create your own unforgettable shots at this truly iconic location.
This special one-off workshop is designed to help you plan and compose the perfect shot of a steam train in full motion, while also exploring long-exposure, framing, and timing techniques. Alongside the main event, we’ll also take time to capture the rugged beauty of the surrounding Yorkshire scenery.
💷 As with all my group workshops, this is a gratuity-based session with no upfront fee. You choose the value of the experience afterwards. As a guide, similar workshops elsewhere typically cost between £30 and £100.
🚂 Important note: This workshop is currently scheduled around the Flying Scotsman, but as with all heritage locomotives, schedules may be subject to change and I cannot guarantee this specific engine will appear on the day. Exact timings will be confirmed closer to the event once the operator’s timetable is released.
Whether you’re a seasoned railway enthusiast or simply keen to add an unforgettable image to your portfolio, this workshop promises a unique opportunity to combine landscape photography with the thrill of Britain’s most famous steam locomotive.
