Sometimes everything just aligns. After a fruitless afternoon walk on Hilbre, I made a last-minute decision to head back to West Kirby Marine Lake — and it paid off spectacularly. As the sun began to set across the water, a group of windsurfers appeared, skimming back and forth across the end of the jetty.

The result is “Surfing the Sunset”, a striking silhouette of sails against a glowing horizon, capturing both movement and stillness in one frame. It’s a reminder that the best shots often come when instinct leads the way.
