Description
On the western cliffs of Anglesey, the South Stack Lighthouse has guided ships safely into Holyhead since 1809. Perched on a small island and reached by a dramatic zig-zag stairway down the cliff face, it remains one of the most iconic coastal landmarks in Wales.
This photograph, “Stairway to South Stack”, looks down the winding steps towards the lighthouse on a cold winter’s evening as the sun sets beyond the Irish Sea. The glowing sky contrasts with the rugged cliffs, while the path leads the eye down to the historic beacon that has stood watch for over two centuries.
