Moel-y-Gest Sunset Walk

A short but beautiful walk, perfect for sunset views around Portmadog

This is a great little climb, from the ground a rocky peak with no clear way up, but boy is it easy to climb and the views are stunning. Who knew such beauty was so close and so easy to reach!

The Route up Moel-y-Gest

This one is a little gem! We start in the carpark/layby on the A497 heading out of Criccieth, then back track to the lane that takes us slowly up and around to the base of Moel-y-gest. We cross a few fields before turning towards the mini-mountain itself.

The path then makes it way, winding up through the rocks towards the top and although steep in places its well marked and easy to follow.

We soon reach the rocky top where we’ll spend the next couple of hours looking for interesting sunset compositions.

After sunset, we make our way down into the valley before returning back the way we came.
