• What is the starting location? – I start each year at the Victoria Monument, just over the road from James Street Station.
• What is the River of Light trail? – Every year the City of Liverpool invites artists from around the world to display their illuminated artworks along the world-famous waterfront, the 2024 theme has not yet been announced.
• When is the 2024 River of Light in Liverpool? – This year the River of Light Trail will run from Friday the 25th of October 2024 until Sunday 3rd of November 2024.
• How do your walks work? – I offer these guided walks for no upfront fee, all you need to do is choose a date above to book a place, then turn up on the day with your camera gear and I’ll guide you round the artworks. Then at the end of the evening simply give whatever you feel the walk was worth to you in the form of a tip with no expectations. In most cases, attendees choose to give between £10-£20, but this is completely up to each person who attends. It’s my job, as your guide, to entertain you, give you photography hints and tips and show you around the artworks. I’ll never pressure you to tip; I believe that, when money is given, it should be voluntary and in direct proportion to the quality of the walk and the budget of those attending. It’s a kind of satisfaction guarantee, if you don’t enjoy the walk, just walk away, no questions asked.
• Why do I need to book? – To ensure I can help everyone on the walk and get round all of the artworks I like to keep groups to a maximum of 12 people so booking is essential – Please can I ask you to only book if you do intend on joining me, this is a very popular route and I don’t want people to miss out.
• Can I book a group walk? – Due to the shortened timescale of the event this year I won’t be able to run any private group tours, if you have more than 3 people in your group please contact me as i will have to charge £15pp for group bookings.
• What is the maximum number of people in a group – I limit bookings to 12 people per walk, though i sometimes take a few more dependant on location. If a walk is listed as fully booked please send me a message using the live chat below and I’ll let you know if there is any space left.
• What if it’s raining, will the walk still go ahead? – In general the walks will go head whatever the weather, however I will only run the walks if it is safe to do so. There are often storms around in October and the Council has cancelled the event on certain nights due to weather. Please keep an eye on your emails for confirmation on the day of your walk.
• How much is a suitable tip? – This is completely up to you but please consider the time it takes to organise and run these walks before hand as well as the knowledge and experience you gain during the event. As a guide most people tend to give between £10-£20pp

Your booking confirmation includes a link to cancel your booking, if you are unable to attend for any reason please ensure you cancel your booking so that I have a chance to offer your place to another attendee. For cancellations within 7 days of the walk, I am unlikely to fill your place so please consider a voluntary donation of £5 that can be completed online here.

Free workshops will only take place if I receive enough bookings to make the workshop worth my while. In the unlikely event of an event being cancelled all attendees will be emailed to confirm so please check your emails 24 hours before to confirm that the event is still taking place.

By attending one of my walks or workshops, attendees signal their agreement to the following terms and conditions.

All participants must be over the age of 18 to take part.

Although I will be leading the route we walk, you are responsible for your own safety and equipment for the duration of the route. I cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of equipment or injury to self.

To ensure safety, if adverse weather conditions are forecast the walk may need to be cancelled. This will communicated by email so please check your junk folders to ensure you don’t miss last minute updates.

Along with checking weather conditions before the day, I will also review conditions throughout the evening and may decide to change the route if the weather/tide requires it. There are some routes that are not safe in some conditions and so I cannot guarantee visiting any requested location.

Covid-19 Restrictions – If a local or national travel ban is in place during the date of a walk please do not travel outside of your permitted area. Current restrictions require that groups cannot be larger than 6 people. If these conditions change group sizes may be able to increase.
