Lovell Radio Telescope at Jodrell Bank Photowalk
Join me for a unique photography walk exploring one of Britain’s most iconic scientific landmarks – the incredible Lovell Radio Telescope at Jodrell Bank.
Starting from Goostrey Railway Station, this relaxed countryside walk offers multiple opportunities to photograph the telescope from different angles and distances as it rises dramatically above the Cheshire landscape. Along the route we’ll discuss composition, focal lengths, storytelling within landscape photography, and how changing light and perspective can completely transform an image.
This walk is suitable for photographers of all skill levels, including beginners and camera phone users. Whether you enjoy architecture, engineering, landscapes or simply trying something a little different, the Lovell Telescope makes for a fascinating subject to photograph.
As always with my walks, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. There’s no pressure, no complicated technical jargon, and plenty of time to stop, chat, and take photographs at your own pace.
Important walking and safety information
Please note that part of this route includes a moderate section of walking along a country road without continuous pavement access. While the route is commonly used by walkers and I will provide guidance on safe walking practices during the event, attendees should be comfortable walking in these conditions and accept personal responsibility for their own safety throughout the walk.
Suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are strongly recommended. High-visibility clothing may also be beneficial, particularly in lower light conditions.
If you are uncomfortable walking alongside country roads or are unsure whether this route is suitable for you, this particular walk may not be the best fit.
This is a gratuity-based event with no upfront fee, though booking is still required as places are limited.
